Berens Sonnet to Luthien
by Pippin Skywalker
Oh fair thing of light, heaven born
That makes my heart wanting and folorn
O, how ye wound me, dearest sweet
Thy gentle voice, thy swift dancing feet!
But each time I see thee I cry "Alas!
like a shadow shall she pass!"
Dear Tinuviel, stand not aloof!
Nor run away, as steed swift of hoof!
Come and heal my broken heart
Fill in the wound made by thy gentle dart!
I'll bear all pain for thee
If I may just be near under this blossom tree
And if trouble or danger draw nigh
For thee I'll perish, and gladly die.
